Nala Assist

Nala has a name because a companion has a name. Nala Assist is the next layer planned for Cull Me uP Pro: an evolving organization assistant for high-volume shoots. Nala will help group the work before you begin — not choose your photographs.

Nala is not part of the launch product. This page describes what is in development. Cull Me uP and Cull Me uP Pro remain the launch offers.

Before / After (illustration)

Start from order, not chaos.

BEFORE NALA 3,840 frames, undifferentiated AFTER NALA Grouped by moment · gear · burst Ceremony 820 Reception 1,140 Portraits 680 Bursts 1,200 Start from order, not chaos. Nala groups heavy shoots before you review. Preview first. Nothing is final until you validate. Nala suggests. You decide.

When ready, Nala will turn heavy folders into working groups you can review in order.

What Nala will do

Heuristic groupings, fully visible.

Coming next First Nala layer

Time & moment

Group by shooting gaps — Nala will detect the transitions inside a day (ceremony, reception, portraits).

Camera & lens

Same body, same lens, similar moment — natural visual chapters of your shoot.

Burst candidates

Detect burst sequences so you compare the keepers at the end, not in the middle of the cull.

Smart folders

Virtual organization that will live in the Local Session Index — your folder structure on disk stays untouched.

Near-duplicate detection

Visually similar frames clustered for faster comparison. Validated visually before any change.

Copy-first / preview-first

Nala will never move your files. Everything is previewed in the index. Nothing is final until you validate.

Planned Exploring Further ahead

  • Planned · Automatic best-of suggestion — a suggestion of which frame in a burst might be the keeper. A suggestion, never a rating.
  • Planned · HDR / Panorama / Focus stack detection — bracket and stack sequences reviewed as one unit.
  • Planned · People clustering — group faces visually for portrait-heavy shoots, without identification.
  • Exploring · Quality flags — soft focus, blown highlights, eyes closed as suggestions only. Still being evaluated for false-positive cost.

Why Nala will be a subscription

The tools are yours. The evolving assistance is optional.

The Light Table should be yours. The Pro workflow should be yours. But the assistance layer will keep evolving: better grouping, more camera/lens patterns, improved sequence detection, future AI-assisted workflows, and continuous refinement.

That is what the subscription pays for. And because high-volume work is seasonal for many photographers, Nala will be designed to be activated when you need it most.

Nala will suggest. You will decide. Pro remains yours either way.
